Maine Credit for the elderly or the disabled
Credit for the elderly or the disabled is available to individuals who are either age 65 or older or are under age 65 and retired on permanent and total disability. Maine credit is 20 percent (.2) times the federal credit for the elderly or the disabled.
Eligibility
To claim the credit if you are under age 65 and retired on permanent and total disability, you must receive taxable disability income and not yet have reached the age when your employer's retirement program would have required you to retire.
