The taxpayer may be eligible to receive a credit for paying certain expenses of an elderly family member who is at least 65 years of age or a family member who has been determined disabled for Social Security purposes.

Eligibility

The elderly person should be related to you by blood or by marriage, the elderly person should be at least 65 years old or has been determined disabled for Social Security purposes, the elderly person should have gross income of $15,000 or less. In the case of married individuals, is their combined gross income $30,000 or less, Montana adjusted gross income is less than $55,000. If you are filing married separate, then Montana adjusted gross income should be less than $27,500.
